Pia Arke: Ittoqqortoormiit

On Thursday, September 4, 2025, it will be 100 years since the founding of Ittoqqortoormiit.
To mark the occasion we are opening the new exhibition “Pia Arke: Ittoqqortoormiit”.

Pia Arke investigated her own personal history and the Greenlandic national history, through her own family’s history routed in Ittoqqortoormiit. Her artistic research into the history of Ittoqqortoormiit resulted in her publication “Stories from Scoresbysund” from 2003.

This work and several of Pia Arke’s works related to Ittoqqoortoormiit will be part of the exhibition, including a recreation of her work “Jord til Scoresbysund” (Soil for Scoresbysund).

The exhibition opens on Thursday the 4^th of September 1 pm. There will be coffee and cookies, everyone is welcome and admission is free.

At 1:30-2:00 pm and again at 4:30-5:00 pm there there will be guided tours of the exhibition for all interested guests.

The exhibition is on show until the 12^th of October 2025 and is sponsored by Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq’s Sermeq Fund.
